Assistant Cemetery Manager

Kungälv-Ytterby Parish consists of the central parts of Kungälv municipality just north of Gothenburg. The parish has about 27,000 inhabitants, of which more than 15,000 are church members.

The Cemetery Administration is based at Skogskyrkogården in Kungälv and also manages five additional cemeteries in Kungälv and Ytterby, as well as the external environment around churches and parish halls. The work team includes a cemetery manager, seven full-time employees, and four seasonal cemetery workers.

As an assistant cemetery manager

· you will participate in planning the operations together with the cemetery manager.

· you will participate in the practical outdoor maintenance of the cemeteries and act as a caretaker during funeral services and ceremonies.

· you will have some administrative tasks indoors (about 1 day/week).

· you will substitute for the cemetery manager during their absence and possible illness.

· you will be on snow duty during the winter months on certain weekends and holidays.

Who are you?

· You are proactive and make things happen.

· You have previous experience in cemetery work or maintenance of green areas, as well as relevant education.

· You contribute to a positive work environment and good cohesion within the team.

· You work to maintain and improve routines, as well as to comply with laws and regulations.

· You are service-oriented and have the ability to meet mourners.

If you have previous leadership experience or training, it is a plus. Additional qualifications such as chainsaw training, hot work certification, lift training, road work, excavator training, forklift certification, and machinery knowledge are also meritorious. A B driver's license for manual transmission is a requirement.
